A traditional Christmas story gets turned into a fun and crazy adventure when a young boy must team up with the Nutcracker to save Christmas. This is not your usual Nutcracker tale.
It’s Christmas Eve and Fritz wants to play his video game, Mouse Hunter 5000. Too bad he broke his sister Clara’s favorite nutcracker doll. His video game is now locked in the closet, and while the rest of his family is at the ballet, Fritz is stuck at home with his boring old neighbor, Mr. Drosselmeier.
But things start looking up for Fritz when he sneaks his video game out of the closet and hides in his room to play. That is until the Mouse King is released from the video game and is determined to ruin Christmas. Fritz joins the Nutcracker from the toy closet on a magical journey to Christmas Wood where he and the Nutcracker must work together to save Christmas before the Mouse King can go through with his evil plan.
This story is based on the hit musical of the same name by children’s rock star Ralph Covert and playwright G. Riley Mills. After reading the book, I want to take my girls to the musical because I can imagine how wonderful it must be. Covert and Mills have collaborated on other musical productions, and I hope that they will continue to do so because their work is amazing. Wilson Swain’s stunning illustrations add so much to this story and make this book the perfect gift for your child.
Also included is a CD that features songs from the musical and a read-aloud track with the music and story woven together. This alone is worth the price of the book.
Full of imagination, adventure and fun A Nutty Nutcracker Christmas is destined to become a holiday classic!
